PAR Lab & Perry World House invite you to the Penn premiere of the new Poldergeist animation about climate justice on the island of Bonaire.
Bonaire is one of six Caribbean islands in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. On Wednesday, January 28, judges in The Hague ruled that the Netherlands violated the human rights of residents of Bonaire by not offering them the same level of climate protection that residents of the European Netherlands enjoy and ordered the government to collaborate on creating a climate adaptation plan for Bonaire. The aim of “How to Care about Bonaire” is to help Dutch policymakers understand what climate adaptation for this Caribbean island really entails. After a brief introduction by Joshua Mosley and Simon Richter and a screening of the video, panelists will discuss some of the important aspects spotlighted by the film: novel aspects of the climate lawsuit (Bill Burke-White); designing climate resilience in the Caribbean (Matthijs Bouw); climate justice and agriculture (Thabo Lenneiye); and coral regeneration (Katie Barott).
