The MD/MPH program is designed for Perelman medical students interested in studying medicine with a special focus on population or community health. The goal of the program is to provide strong interdisciplinary training to individuals with a variety of career interests including clinical practice, disease prevention, health behavior, health education, research, implementation science, and policy making.
The Master of Science in Oral and Population Health (MOPH) degree program is developed to answer a critical need for public and population health leaders who can inform, develop, implement, and evaluate policies that address current and future challenges in oral health with a local (national or sub-national) and global focus. This online program (synchronous and asynchronous) provides students access to state-of-the-art information, knowledge, and skills in population health, focusing on oral health as an essential component of overall health and well-being.
The Master of City Planning’s Land Use and Environmental Planning concentration prepares students to accommodate population and economic growth while preserving farm and resource lands, promoting clean air and water, and reducing the carbon footprint of cities and suburbs.
The Veterinary Medicine VMD |Master of Public Health dual degree program trains veterinary medicine and public health students. Candidates choose from several track options and design their plan of study with electives to fulfill the track requirements. The tracks offered include the Generalist Track, Global Health Track, Environmental Health Track, and the One Health Track. Students also complete 125 hours of field work and a culminating Capstone experience that results in a mentored research or mentored project in public health.
The MES/JD dual degree, offered jointly by Penn Carey Law and the School of Arts & Sciences, prepares students to assume positions of leadership in environmental law and policymaking in both the public and private sector, combining study of environmental and ecological issues with law, regulation, and policy related to environmental risk, climate change, and environmental justice.
The MES/ML dual degree, offered jointly by Penn Carey Law and the School of Arts & Sciences, provides grounding in earth sciences, policy, and other relevant disciplines alongside focused study in environmental law, covering resource use, air and water pollution regulation, and energy policy.

A dual degree program between the Master of Environmental Studies (MES) and Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership (NPL) provides an avenue to make change in the fields of environment, climate, and environmental justice. A large part of environmental work is done through nonprofit and NGO groups; thus, this area of study is relevant to a wide range of students.
The study of climate science offers an opportunity to develop the skills and effective policies to reduce risk and better adapt to a changing environment. In this 4-course, 4 c.u. certificate you gain an understanding of the Earth’s climate system and how and why it has changed over time. Within the disciplines of oceanic and atmospheric science, you focus on the mechanisms that drive climate science, both natural and the result of human actions. You also develop the communication skills to more effectively share an understanding of climate science and its relevant policy implications with a broad audience.
This certificate draws on the interdisciplinary nature of energy policy education at Penn, and draws from a comprehensive set of courses across several schools at Penn, with a foundational offering in the Weitzman School of Design. The certificate is intended for professional graduate students currently enrolled at the University interested in adding an understanding of energy policy to their list of educational qualifications.
