This master’s program is an engineering degree with a strong technical focus, preparing students to become interdisciplinary leaders pioneering solutions in energy, climate, and sustainability. All students will complete one introductory course and participate in a hands-on, project-based component, which can take several forms. From four breadth categories—Environment and Climate Solutions, Clean Energy Technology, Society and Policy, and Economics and Innovation—students will select one concentration (three courses) and take one course in each of the remaining categories.
The MD/MPH program is designed for Perelman medical students interested in studying medicine with a special focus on population or community health. The goal of the program is to provide strong interdisciplinary training to individuals with a variety of career interests including clinical practice, disease prevention, health behavior, health education, research, implementation science, and policy making.
The MBA major in Business, Energy, Environment and Sustainability (BEES) is designed to provide in-depth foundations for those interested in the complex relationships between business and the natural environment, management of environmental risks, and the business and economics of energy. Students will be ideally suited for the ever-expanding set of careers in sustainable business, energy companies, green investing, energy banking, consulting, the non-profit world, and the government.
The major in Impact, Value and Sustainable Business (IVSB) is designed to provide in-depth foundations for those interested in how business activities affect natural, human, and social capital – and how these impacts influence risk, opportunity, and sustainable business performance. Graduates will be well equipped to shape strategy, innovation, valuations, investment flows, and policy.
The minor in Energy and Sustainability provides students with broad coverage of technical and societal issues in energy and sustainability. It is designed to help students become leaders in developing technologies for a more sustainable energy future.
The MES Program offers a multi-disciplinary approach to environmental study, connecting researchers and practitioners across physical, biological, health, and social sciences with professionals in planning, business, health care, and law. This approach equips graduates with the knowledge necessary to tackle complex environmental issues and specialize in areas like resource management, sustainability, policy, and urban resilience.
VIPER is a dual-degree program that positions students to make a significant impact in the development of sustainable energy science and technology while cultivating an interdisciplinary perspective in science and engineering and forming lasting connections with a community dedicated to solving the world’s energy challenges. Students pursue a Bachelor of Arts in the School of Arts and Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics is the study of forces, deformation, and motions of solid bodies and fluids (liquids and air), heat & energy generation and transport.
