Faculty Opportunities

Penn Climate offers a variety of ways to support faculty in their research, teaching, and service connected to climate change. Inspiring and facilitating collective inter- and transdisciplinary scholarship and action—and elevating that work—is an integral part of our mission.

Opportunities for Penn faculty to connect with the Penn Climate community include:

Penn Climate Student Cohort

Looking for an incredible student to assist with research or data? Apply to host a Penn Climate Student Assistant through our new Climate Cohort Program. Faculty and lecturers will mentor paid undergraduate and graduate students contributing to climate-related projects across the academic year. Learn more here.

Faculty Writing Group

A monthly convening where all faculty who work in the climate space are invited to meet colleagues and the Penn Climate team and have dedicated time to work collaboratively or on their own—like a mini, on-campus writing retreat. Check the Penn Climate Events Calendar for the next meet-up.

Faculty Lunches

Small-group, brown-bag gatherings to introduce faculty from different areas of the university to one another to explore collaborations. Complete this form to indicate your interest in attending.

Extreme Heat Working Group

A scholarly community focused on studying and developing solutions to extreme heat events, which have increased in frequency and intensity in recent decades. This working group gathers experts from around campus to address the harmful effects of extreme heat on people, infrastructure, and ecosystems.

Funding Opportunities

Penn Climate offers a variety of funding avenues for faculty to advance their climate-related research, also helping faculty identify external grants that may be aligned with their work. Learn more here.
