Hosted by the Penn Urban Food Systems Community of Practice (UFSCoP), in collaboration with 25th and Tasker Community Garden, this workshop session will teach participants how to properly take soil samples, demonstrating this process at 25th and Tasker Community Garden.
Urban growers of all skill levels are welcome to join, but we believe this workshop will most benefit beginner and mid-level growers who are interested in getting soil tested for their respective community gardens. Participants should have access to farms, gardens, and/or other growing spaces that are open to the community.
Doris Wagner and Samara Gray from PlantARC will lead an interactive workshop on proper soil sampling techniques and on how to collect and prepare samples for the soil tests recommended and offered by PlantARC. This workshop is free for community growers, and all necessary materials will be provided during the session. Doris and Samara will offer sign-ups for PlantARC’s free soil sampling service.
