Climate Week Marketing Intern

Climate Week at Penn is an annual event providing a platform for connection, discussion, service, and action, giving every member of the Penn community a chance to find their place in the climate movement.  Climate Week will mark its seventh year in 2026, highlighting and promoting the wide range of research, education, and outreach across the University’s Schools, centers, and departments. Climate Week, planned for Oct. 5-9, 2026, is led by a core organizing committee, including representatives from Penn Climate, Penn Sustainability, other offices and centers, as well as key faculty and students.

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Penn student to be the Climate Week Marketing Intern, assisting with event marketing, planning, and execution. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills, and experience in video production, social media creation, and event planning. Importantly, we seek candidates with a passion for sustainability and the environment.

The Climate Week Marketing Intern will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and marketing of Climate Week activities, with student outreach and engagement being a top priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison with student groups on campus, lining up student-led programming and ensuring that the students are well-supported and helping to promote events.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and timely communication with committee members, student groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in monthly meetings of the Climate Week core organizing team.
  • Assist with logistics and planning for Climate Week events.
  • Help coordinate and communicate with speakers and partners.
  • Manage social media and assist with other marketing efforts: create attractive branded social media posts using existing branded templates, interview-style Instagram reels, and produce an engaging video which will be shared on social media and on our website, promoting Climate Week.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities
  • Passion for sustainability and the environment
  • Experience with event planning and coordination
  • Graphic design and video production experience a must (Canva a plus)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and marketing a must

This is an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student to gain hands-on experience in event marketing, planning and coordination while raising awareness of and encouraging solutions to the pressing challenge of climate change.

The position will start in late June 2026 and run through October 2026. Start and end dates are flexible.

This position will be 5-10 hours per week, increasing to 10-15 hours in September and October. Participation in virtual meetings over the summer will be required. All candidates will be asked to submit social media work samples and videos that they have personally produced.
